The Wenglor INTT inductive sensors for extreme temperature ranges from Treotham detect metallic objects contactlessly at ambient temperatures of up to 250 °C. The new INTT series has two new features that make it even more flexible and robust. For dynamic applications in hot areas, system builders can now choose from flexible cables and simple push/pull connectors. The plug-in sensor heads are therefore easy to replace. The analysis module is also located directly in the M12 sensor plug. This innovative feature offers great added value for users who design or operate drying ovens for paint or surface coatings, for example.

When determining if an application calls for a lead or ball screw, your decision should be guided through evaluating the inherent advantages and disadvantages of each. This evaluation process can have a significant impact on the performance and economic benefits of linear motion projects. The first step comes from understanding how they differ. Both ball and lead screws use threaded rods to convert from rotary to linear motion. Ball screws, as the name would imply, use recirculating ball bearings to minimize friction. Lead screws, by contrast, rely on a low coefficient of friction from sliding surfaces.

This makes it possible to mill and turn lubrication-free and maintenance-free prototypes and special components for a wide variety of applications.

Even tried and tested structures have potential for improvement. One example is the classic trapezoidal thread, which igus has refined. Thanks to a special geometric interaction between the lead screw nut, which requires no lubrication or maintenance, and the metal lead screw, dryspin technology promises a long service life, improved efficiencies, low wear and less movement noise.
